1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using SeeOzTogether (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top reflects when the current version came into force. Material changes will be notified to active accounts by email at least 14 days in advance. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of a change constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

2. Description of the Service

SeeOzTogether is a free, online road-trip planning tool. It lets registered users:

• Create trips with waypoints, route points, and points of interest (POIs).
• Share trips with other registered users (join requests, invitations, public discoverability).
• Comment on trips, vote on suggestions, and post safety alerts.
• Discover public trips created by other users.

The Service is provided free of charge. We may, at our sole discretion, add, change, or remove features at any time without notice.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 16.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide during registration and in your profile. We may suspend or delete accounts that contain obviously false or misleading information.

4. Your account

You are responsible for:

• Keeping your password confidential.
• All activity that occurs under your account, whether or not you authorised it.
• Logging out of shared or public devices.

Notify us immediately at seeoztogether@gmail.com if you believe your account has been compromised. We are not liable for losses caused by unauthorised account access that you could reasonably have prevented.

You may delete your account at any time from your profile page. Deletion is permanent and removes all your trips, comments, votes, and POIs. Public trips you created may be retained in an anonymised form for archival purposes; contact us if you want a trip you created to be removed entirely.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, threatening, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable.
• Post content that infringes someone else's intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
• Upload malicious code, attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its underlying systems, or otherwise interfere with the Service or other users' enjoyment of it.
• Scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data from the Service in bulk or by automated means without our written permission.
• Sell access to the Service, or use it for any commercial purpose, without our written permission.
• Spam or solicit other users for commercial purposes.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of any content you upload, post, or otherwise make available through the Service ("Your Content").

You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to use, host, store, reproduce, modify (for formatting purposes only), and display Your Content as necessary to operate the Service. This licence ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except where Your Content has already been shared with other users and they have not deleted it.

You represent and warrant that you have all rights necessary to grant this licence, and that Your Content does not breach clause 5 (Acceptable use).

7. Maps, routes, and safety information

The maps and route information provided through the Service are powered by third-party open-data services (OpenStreetMap, OSRM). They are provided for planning convenience only. Conditions on the ground change constantly — roads are closed, tracks are washed out, weather changes — and we cannot guarantee the accuracy of any route, distance, or duration.

Always verify your route independently before departure. Carry paper maps, a personal locator beacon (PLB), and adequate water, food, and fuel. Tell someone where you're going and when you expect to return. The Australian outback is unforgiving.

Safety alerts posted by other users are community-contributed. Treat them as starting points for your own investigation, not as authoritative.

8. Intellectual property

The Service itself — its source code, design, text, graphics, and the selection and arrangement thereof — is owned by the SeeOzTogether operator and is protected by Australian and international copyright laws.

Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). See openstreetmap.org/copyright.

9. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please read it.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account, or remove specific content, at any time and at our sole discretion if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, or if continuing to provide the Service to you would expose us to legal liability. Where possible, we will give you notice and an opportunity to respond before suspension or termination, but in cases involving imminent harm or illegal activity we may act without notice.

You may stop using the Service at any time. The sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (Acceptable use, Your content, Disclaimers, Limitation of liability, Indemnification, Governing law) will survive.

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy of content.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will the SeeOzTogether operator, its contributors, or its affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages (including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profit, or personal injury or death arising from reliance on a route suggestion), whether in an action in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, arising from or in connection with your use of the Service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty or liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the Australian Consumer Law (set out in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)).

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the SeeOzTogether operator from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, Your Content, or your breach of these Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales for any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Service.

15. Changes to the Service

We may modify or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance.
